The Conclave Teamspeak Guide
 Overview

TeamSpeak is an application which enables people to speak with one another over the Internet. TeamSpeak consists of client and server software, both of which are available for Windows, Linux, and MAC. The TeamSpeak server acts as a host to multiple client connections and is capable handling hundreds of simultaneous users. This allows a number of members to have a general chat or, if playing the same game, discuss tactics, give game tips or warn team mates of approaching enemies.

The Conclave Teamspeak server has a number of pre-set channels which you can join, some relate to specific games (Eg. The Battlefield 1942 channel is for people who are playing Battlefield 1942), some are for general chat and hanging around when not in game (Eg. The Conclave Pub channel) and others are related to the hierarchy of The Conclave (Eg. The Council Chambers and the Conclave Citadel).

The first setting to change is the "Voice volume adjustment", move the slider towards loud (on the right) . This is important as many games are so loud that you cannot hear the members with quieter microphone outputs speaking.

The next setting to change is the "Sound pack volume". This setting arranges the (relative) volume of the teamspeak client for giving sound messages. For example, when a player joins or leaves the channel. Set this volume to your prefered reference.

Select the "Capture" option on the left hand side, as shown below:

TeamSpeak Capture Options Select

TeamSpeak Capture Options Window

press a particular key. This is prefferred over the "Voice Activation Detection", as this is more senstive to how
the microphone is configured.
Click on the "No Hotkey Assigned" button, next to the "Push-To-Talk" radio button.
Press the button you want to use to enable broadcasting on teamspeak.
Enable the "Echo reduction" checkbox on the bottom of the page.
Click on the button "Test Voice" and press the assigned speaking
button. If everything works correctly then a green bar will appear when you speak
and the small blue button will light up.

 Step 5:

Teamspeak should now be working correctly. Press the "OK" button to close the configuration screen
and to return to the main window. You can now start chatting to other members. To get started look
down the channel list for a channel that interests you (Eg. The Battlefield 1942 channel is for members
who are playing Battlefield 1942) and double click the channel name to join.

People complain that i am causing an echo but i don't hear an echo:

Problem:

People are complaining that i am causing an echo of everything they say. I cant hear any echo so am i causing the echo?:
Solution:

It is possible that you are causing everyone else to hear an echo when they speak. The reason you don't hear it is because the sound travels through your speakers (which you hear) and then immediately back through your microphone (which everybody else hears). There are two ways of solving this problem:

1. Buy a headset / microphone combo and switch off your speakers.

2. Change your "Voice Send Method" from "Voice Activation" to "Push to Talk". This means that other people only hear you talking when you press the button you assigned and thus avoids 95% of the echo as your microphone is not always transmitting. Information on how to change this setting can be found in the Using and Customising TeamSpeak section of this guide.
