The Conclave general questions
1. Who founded The Conclave and when?   Top
The Conclave was founded on the 7th of July 2002 by three people who had departed from another community where they no longer felt at home. These three Founders are the original three creators of the international multi gaming community The Conclave. Two Europeans (Chief and Seryl Cann) and one American (Varden Da'uk etre nal) gathered their ideas for The Conclave wrote the documents which eventually culminated into the community that currently resides on the website you see before you.

2. What is The Conclave?   Top
The Conclave, or [CC] as it is abbreviated, is an international multigaming community which focuses on creating an enjoyable environment for its members to play games, talk on media like the forum/Teamspeak, participate in events such as clan ladders etc. The setup of the community is an international one, with members from all over the world.

3. Why is the community called The Conclave?   Top
The English word "conclave" means "meeting" or "gathering of people" and reflects the principles on which The Conclave was founded. Opinions of all members are taken into account as much as practically possible when certain decisions are made.

4. Why should I join The Conclave?  Top
People who join us do so for a wide number of reasons. Some like to chat on Teamspeak, others want to play games, team up with other members to make levels and modules for games that are supported by The Conclave, etc. The whole idea is to be part of something that is larger than the sum of its individual parts. The Conclave is very open to people who join us and want to show initiative (organizing gaming events, attending beer meet or LAN parties, creating new groups for games which can be supported by the community, recruiting new people etc.)

5. What are the requirements for joining The Conclave?  Top
Any person who wants to join the community is welcome as long as he fulfill the following conditions:

Behave according to The Conclave Code of Conduct on all media. Any behaviour that can harm the good reputation of The Conclave is strictly forbidden.
Be communicative towards the rest of the community, on all media The Conclave has at its disposal (forum, Teamspeak server etc). Members are requested to contribute on the community's forum and to use Teamspeak voice communication during gaming sessions so as to improve team spirit and communication.
Show a minimum level of activity on The Conclave forum and Teamspeak server. Inactive accounts will be deleted after an email has been sent to verify whether a member is still active or not.

6. Do I need to play games to join The Conclave?  Top
No, The Conclave is a place where everyone is welcome. Be it for chatting, the playing of games, creation of levels and modules for games, artwork or any other kind of activity.

7. How do I join The Conclave?   Top
To join our community, simply click on the "register" option in the index menu on the main page, select the option "I want to become a member" and fill in your personal information. You will receive an automatic email notification with your login data as well as a link to an information page. This page will give you a basic introduction into the most important aspects of The Conclave. Be sure to read it carefully, as you will be expected to know its content.

8. Do I need to run a trial before joining?   Top
As an Initiate you can become a potentially new member of The Conclave once the following requirements have been met:

You have been an Initiate for the period of at least one month.
Your total number of forum posts, combined with the number of days you have been active on TeamSpeak in the previous 30 days, is at least 25.
You have made a post on the relevant House board of the [CC] forum requesting membership (along with any other selections necessary, such as the class choice required for House Cala'dai).
Your post on this board also names a Member to vouch for you.
The named Member responds in that very same topic, confirming your request.

Only after these criteria have all been met may the Directors, the leaders of The Conclave, promote your status from Initiate to that of a Member. Please note that, as an Initiate, your account will be automatically deleted after 30 days of inactivity.

9. What are Initiates?   Top
Initiates are people who have decided to join The Conclave and have not yet fulfilled their 1 month trial period. Until they have become full members all access to various parts of The Conclave that Initiates have been granted is a gift to them by the community. Initiates can be identified as they have a separate avatar on the forum.

Once the trial period has ended an Initiate, when he has shown sufficient activity and has adhered to The Conclave Code of Conduct, receives full Member access as soon as he has chosen a House.

10. How do I communicate with(in) The Conclave?  Top
The Conclave has its own website, forum and Teamspeak server. All media are freely accessible to anyone who wants to either become an Initiate or just be around as a Visitor. Teamspeak can be downloaded from the Teamspeak main page. If you are an Initiate or full member and want access to the Teamspeak server just contact the community through the forum and a moderator will supply you with the password.

11. Do I use my tag in games that The Conclave doesn't support?   Top
The Conclave expects its members to wear the [CC] tag, whatever game they play and no matter where they play. This way the good name of the community can be spread across many game types allowing us to recruit more people and expand upon the number of games that we support as a community.

12. What are the tags that certain members wear on various media?   Top
The tags such as you see for Conclave members on IRC or ingame are varied and are explained below:

[CC]: These are members of The Conclave. All members wear this tag ingame whenever possible.
[CC_D]: This is one of the three Directors, the leaders of The Conclave.
[CC_A]: This is one of the Ambassadors, leaders of the Guilds.
[CC_C]: This is one of the Councillors, a member of the Council.

13. Who are the Directors?  Top
The Directors are the overall leaders of The Conclave and function as rulemakers and diplomats within the community. They are in charge of the whole community when it comes to the creation of new rules, procedures and ideas to further expand upon the goals of The Conclave as an international multi gaming community. As such they primarily function as sources of information for members who need help when they have questions or as diplomats when certain problems arise and need to be sorted out.

14. What is an Ambassador?   Top
An Ambassador leads a Guild, which is a game unit within The Conclave formed by members who play one or more games together. Every Guild is lead by one Ambassador who can have one or multiple assistants, called Vice Ambassadors, to facilitate his job.

15. Who are the Councillors and Vice Councillors?   Top
The Councillors act as the referees and judges within The Conclave. Any member within the community who feels that another member has violated the Code of Conduct, and thinks that the measures undertaken by admins or moderators were insufficient after having contacted these, can contact the Council. The Councillors investigate the matter and, should a violation indeed have taken place, publicly display their verdict on the case.

The Vice Councillors are there to replace the Councillors when these are involved in a dispute themselves, have stepped down as a Councillor or are simply temporarily unavailable.

16. What is the Council?   Top
The Council consists of the Councillors, who act as referees within The Conclave whenever an issue or complaint is filed by a member. Members who file a complaint with the Council must first make sure that they themselves have done everything within reasonable limits to solve the problem, for example by talking to the person they are in conflict with or by contacting an admin or moderator who can assist.

17. What is the Fluffy Pink Bunny?   Top
The Fluffy Pink Bunny, or FPB as it is usually affectionately called, is the mascotte of The Conclave. It was brought to life as a part of The Conclave to give the community a memorable icon in order to emphasise its fun based philosophy. Many members in The Conclave like to use the FPB as a reference/gimmick when posting messages on the forum.

18. How do I receive awards in The Conclave?   Top
The Conclave has various types of awards:

Guild awards are granted for showing skill, ability and teamspirit in the game(s) the Guild supports.

House awards are given for recruiting new members into that House or participation in various projects and events organized within the House.

The Conclave general awards are given to members if they have undertaken activities from which the whole community has benefitted. This can range from the recruitment of new members to the participation in projects organized by the community as a whole.

19. Does it matter if I am in a second clan/community?   Top

House questions
1. What is a House?  Top
The Houses are the administrational units from which The Conclave is built up to make the management of members easier. Every Initiate must choose a House before his or her account can be upgraded from that of an Initiate to that of a full member. Houses have no connection at all with the games that are played by The Conclave's members who are a part of those Houses. As a result the choice for a certain House is based on the preference of a Member for the general atmosphere of said House, which is determined by the avatars, that a Member receives throughout his membership, on the forum as well as the awards that he/she can receive for a variety of activities within The Conclave.

2. Can I be in multiple Houses?  Top
No, members of The Conclave can only be in a single House at a time. However, unless there is a special event that negates this right, memebers are allowed to switch Houses.

3. Can a new House be formed?  Top
New Houses can be formed if The Conclave has grown to such a size that the current number of Houses would be insufficient to maintain a proper administrational overview of all the members in the community.

4. How do I receive promotions?  Top
Promotions are normally automatically given based on the time a member has been a part of The Conclave. Promotions are granted assuming a member shows standard activity on IRC and the forum, where the number of promotions may differ per House. Promotions can also be given when the Senator feels that a member has been so active and has shown such proper behaviour that a standard award would not be sufficient.

5. Can members be removed from a House?  Top
No, this is not possible. Since members must be in a House they cannot be removed from it. However, Members who misbehave will be punished and can even be removed from The Conclave as a whole.

Guild questions
1. What is a Guild?  Top
The Guilds are the gaming parts of The Conclave and are comparable to clans or units. A Guild is built up from a group of Members that all like to play the same game(s).

2. How do I join a Guild?  Top
To join a Guild you can:
Contact the Ambassador of the Guild you want to join using email or a PM through the forum.
Post a reply to an existing application form (if any) or create a new topic on the Guild board, stating you would like to join and for what game(s).

3. Can I be in multiple Guilds?  Top
Yes, you can be in multiple Guilds as long as you have at least one supported game per Guild that you wish to join.

4. Do I have to participate in wars or other events?  Top
If you are joining a Guild it is assumed you have an interest in the events and activities organized within the Guild. If you dont want to play wars but just want to play casually you dont need to be in a Guild. By joining a Guild its assumed you will play in wars and other events. If you display too little activity the Ambassador has the right to remove you from his Guild.

5. How can new games be supported?  Top
New games, when sufficient Members have expressed an interest in them, can be supported in new Guilds. These can be formed using the rule on the creation and termination of Guilds such as displayed in the overview of the Community Rules. Depending on the type of game and the number of Members who have an interest additional restrictions must be met before the Guild can be created.

Optionally, if there are insufficient Members for the immediate creation of a new Guild, the new game can also be supported in one of the existing Guilds or be given a place as a sub-board under the Incubator board on the forum so that Members who play the game can start building up a group.
